Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Gold Model by Robert Gulpen Engineering 2012

The most expensive and most precious model car in the world

The bidding starts at 5 Million Dollar
Munich, Germany, September 2011: Quality of craftsmanship, precision, individuality and value are the trademarks of the German model carmaker Dipl.-Ing. Robert Wilhelm Gülpen, who has been creating luxury car models from solid precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum for the past twelve years. The replicas cover the range of all leading car manufacturers and are accessible to anyone with a taste for luxury and a love of cars.
The engineer’s latest project, however, will make the Guinness Book of Records. Now he is going to manufacture the most expensive and most precious model car in the world; a unique creation made according to the personal requests of the potential buyer.

Gülpen has conferred with various luxury car makers from around the world. Now the decision is made.
It is a Lamborghini supersports car which he created as The most expensive and most precious model car in the world. In fact, it is their latest model, the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. Uncompromising, extreme and sensuous like the original, the model will be realized in exactly the same way.
However, enthusiasts will have to change their unit of measurement for this model, not kilometres and Newton metres but carats and ounces.

Essentially the model is made of solid gold and platinum. And it is not a model car. It is a piece of art.

The body of the prototype additionally features genuine carbon fiber, as used in Formula 1 cars.
For Gülpen, the car model name indicates the number of jewels on the front seats to be used: Aventador LP 700-4, that means 700 pieces of precious stones per seat, or 1400 just for the two seats in the most expensive and precious model car in the world!
Gülpen has created the LEDs of the headlights using high-quality clear diamonds, whereas the rear lights are artistically made of colored precious stones.
In the end it is the customer who will decide exactly what the most expensive and most precious model car in the world will look like. Because he can determine according to his preferences, what materials will be used.
Gülpen says, that the match between the client and the carefully constructed model will allow the car to represent the personality and desires of the owner, as well as the brand and model’s qualities such as fascination, joy, power and exclusivity. Moreover, the material value of the chosen precious metals and stones alone, in the order of 2,5 Million Dollar, will be a sound investment for life with a real potential for value increase in the future.

Guinnes Book of World Records:
The project will actually secure three entries into the Guinness Book of World Records. Firstly, the most expensive and most precious model car in the world, secondly the most secure showcase which comes with it, made from bulletproof glass and thirdly the most precious Lamborghini logo ever made.

Chevrolet Crossover

2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

Captiva Sport

Description:
Chevrolet Captiva Sport will be introduced later this year as an answer to the demand for compact crossovers by fleet customers. As a new entry to the U.S market, the Captiva Sport will come with U.S.-specification that will give fleet customers a contemporary five-seat crossover with a comprehensive range of features and amenities, roominess, utility and fuel efficiency.

The Captiva Sport will be powered by either an Ecotec 2.4L direct-injected four-cylinder or 3.0L direct-injected V-6 engine – each matched with a fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission. The Captiva Sport will be offered in LS and LT models, with four trim packages, including an all-wheel-drive model (LTZ). All models feature 17-inch aluminum wheels, XM Satellite Radio, six-speaker sound system, four-wheel disc brakes with antilock, traction control, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, air conditioning, power locks and windows (with driver’s express down) and remote keyless entry.

2011 Chevrolet Equinox

 Equinox
MSRP: $ 22995.00

Description:
Pros:
  • Insulated cabin protects you from road noise
  • Fit and finish of cabin
  • Lots of storage bins inside
  • Sliding rear seats
Cons:
  • The Equinox looks tame compared to the GMC Equinox
  • Missing option for third row seating
Ruling: The Chevrolet Equinox has safe, secure handling and retains its exceptionally roomy second-row seat, which slides on a track to increase passenger foot room or to boost cargo space in the rear. However, there is no option for third-row seating. Competitive vehicles such as the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sorento offer a third-row option, while others like the Ford Escape can be bought in fuel-saving Hybrid trim.

The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is a small crossover that isn't so small and comes in several trims: the base LS, 1LT, 2LT and near-luxury LTZ. All-wheel drive is optional, as is a V6 engine. Note that opting for all-wheel drive and/or the V6 engine decreases the Equinox’s fuel economy ratings significantly.

For 2011, the optional V6 engine can run on E85, a blended fuel that's mostly made from ethanol. Equinox LS models now come standard with a compass for 2011. Lower-end 1LT models add Bluetooth, a USB port and a leather-wrapped steering wheel complete with audio controls as standard equipment, while 2LT models now come standard with heated cloth seats.

CarReview's Opinion of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
Likes:
  • Bavarian-like ride and handling!
  • Comfy leather seats
  • Interior and exterior styling
  • Programmable power lift gate
Dislikes:
  • Feels underpowered even with the upgraded V6
  • Torque steer when driven hard (front wheel drive model)
  • Terrible ergonomics and User interface for electronics
Verdict: As GM begins to emerge from the most difficult financial times in their history, the newly restyled Equinox is evidence that their product managers are starting to listen more to their customers as well as paying more attention to styling trends that consumers like instead of styling trends that are different and distinctly Chevrolet.

2011 Chevrolet HHR

2011 Chevrolet Volt

Volt
MSRP: $ 41708.00

Description:
The first of a new generation of cars, the Chevy Volt will be an electric car with a gasoline engine onboard to help recharge its batteries. GM claims it offers the environmental benefits of an electric car without the limited range. Chevrolet calls the Volt an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle, or “an electric car that can create its own electricity.” It isn’t a hybrid, nor is it a purely electric car. Instead, the Chevy Volt is an electric car with a gasoline-powered generator that can kick in to recharge its batteries when they are low. Owners will be able to charge their Volt from a wall outlet at home, and Chevy claims that the Volt should be able to travel up to 40 miles on electric power alone.

2011 Chevrolet Camaro

Camaro
MSRP: $ 22805.00

 Description:
Pros:
  • Look-at-me styling
  • Powerful engines
  • Good handling skills
Cons:
  • Poor visibility
  • Uncomfortable seats
  • Tiny trunk opening
  • Back seat fit for tiny tots and small bags
Ruling: The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro ups the ante with performance figures that it believes are more reflective of its performance abilities and, even better, a gorgeous convertible body style.

A new convertible version debuts this year. Fitted with a power-operated top, the Camaro convertible is offered in the same V6 and V8 configurations as the coupe. GM says it wanted to keep the convertible's performance high, so rather than soften the suspension, it made many reinforcements to the body structure to keep body flex to a minimum.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro is largely a carryover from the 2010 model year. It is available in three trims, LS, 1LT, and 2LT. In addition there is a high performance SS model and a convertible model available late 2011.

For 2011, the V6-powered Chevy Camaro gets a bump in horsepower from 304 to 312. OnStar is now standard, while a head-up display is now included with the 2LT and 2SS trims. Later in the model year, the much-anticipated convertible version will debut.

2011 Chevrolet Corvette

Corvette
MSRP: $ 49525.00

2012 Buick Verano

Verano

Description:
The Buick Verano is the second use of the platform first seen for the new Chevrolet Cruze, but the Verano is far more than just a rebadged Cruze. With the 2012 Buick Verano, General Motors shows that they have learned a lesson from their past mistakes as the Cruze-based Buick bares very little resemblance to the Chevy with which it shares a great many components.

Chief engineer Jim Federico notes that the Buick has an especially rigid body structure, so he was able to tune it for a more comfortable ride, while maintaining good handling attributes. True to Buick's reputation, the Verano will have the tightest body sealing possible and engine compartment acoustics to ensure it's among the quietest compacts.

Inside, there is no question that the 2012 Buick Verano is not a rebadged Chevy Cruze, as the compact Buick brings the same luxurious fit and finish that we find in the LaCrosse and new Regal. The materials are far more plush and comfortable with soft touch surfaces scattered throughout the interior finished in the same colors as the soft leather seating surfaces. Like the Regal and LaCrosse, the new Verano will feature a state of the art sound system with a large touch screen display.

2011 BMW Luxury Series

BMW 1-Series

1-Series
MSRP: $ 29450.00

Description:
Pros:
  • Exhilarating acceleration
  • Superb road handling
  • Stylish exterior
  • Affordable luxury coupe
Cons:
  • Jenny Craig candidate
  • Back seat is primarily almost non-functional
  • Priced at the higher end of its class
  • Unimpressive fuel economy ratings
Ruling: Performance is the end-game for the 1-Series. The 2011 BMW 1-Series is one of the most powerful, fun-to-drive, sports car-like models in its class. Just be prepared to pay -- at the dealership and at the pump.

New for 2011
A new turbocharged in-line 6 engine goes into the 2011 BMW 135i coupe and convertible. Power output is rated the same as last year (300hp and 300 lb-ft of torque), but BMW claims improved fuel efficiency and more immediate torque response. City mpg improves from 18 to 20 mpg; highway mpg improves from 25 to 28 mpg. Additionally, the new turbocharged engine is now mated to the BMW's 7-speed, dual-clutch automated manual transmission known as DCT.

Two versions of the 1 Series are available: the 128i Coupe and the 135i Coupe. Each has been enhanced to improve convenience and comfort for the 1 Series’ fourth model year in the US.

The 128i Coupe and Convertible are powered by a 3.0-liter, 230 horsepower inline-6 engine that generates 200 lb-ft of torque. The 128i Coupe and Convertible feature BMW’s Valvetronic throttle-less intake technology and aluminum/magnesium construction - core elements of BMW’s EfficientDynamics.

The 2011 BMW 135i Coupe and Convertible feature BMW’s newest, 3.0-liter inline-6 engine. Equipped with a single, twin-scroll turbocharger, High-pressure direct injection and BMW’s revolutionary Valvetronic throttle-less intake technology, the engine produces 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.

BMW 3-Series

 3-Series
MSRP: $ 34600.00

Description:
Pros:
  • Strong and smooth in-line six-cylinder engines
  • Superb balance of handling and ride quality without compromise
  • Always the benchmark by which other cars are compared
  • Active and passive safety features
  • Best value in its class
Cons:
  • Interior design is its weakest point
  • Cost of options get expensive quickly
  • Complicated iDrive system
Ruling: The BMW 3 Series emphasizes performance and continues to lead the pack with intuitive handling, powerful motors , and a functional interior that is comfortable for short and long trips.

Since debuting in the year 1975, more than 12 million customers worldwide have purchased a BMW 3 Series. BMW's goal for the 3 Series was to develop a compact and elegant body design, modern and efficient engines, a classic rear-wheel drive concept and a sporty suspension setup. The result was a maximum degree of driving dynamics and agility. In addition, BMW designed the high-performance sports sedan BMW M3.

CarReview's opinion of the 2008 BMW 335i | 2010 BMW 335d

Likes:
  • Amazing engine with breathtaking acceleration
  • Incredible handling
  • Surprising amount of interior space
Dislikes:
  • Poor gas mileage (averaged 16.6 mpg)
  • Surprising cost cutting and sub-par quality for a $46,000 car
  • Uncomfortable seats
Verdict: If you love to drive aggressively, the 3 Series will reward you with an incredible engine and fantastic handling that gets better the harder you push it. What other car seats 4, rips 0-60 in around 5 seconds, and handles as if on rails for less than $50,000? Given that criteria, it is hard to beat. And if you like the concept of a “sleeper” that can out –run 90% of the cars out there, it’s very appealing.

BMW 5-Series

5-Series
MSRP: $ 45050.00

Description:
Pros:
  • Powerful turbocharged engines
  • Superb balance of handling and ride quality without compromise
  • Functional interior design using high-quality materials
  • Generous number of standard and optional high-tech features
Cons:
  • Cost of options get expensive quickly
  • Complicated iDrive system
Ruling: The BMW 5-Series emphasizes performance but does not quite corner with the athleticism BMW loyalists expect. In order to get it to perform with the sporting character most BMW fans expect, you have to purchase several expensive electronic upgrades -- and even then, you’re paying for the sort of handling you get from expensive electronics, not the raw connection to the road that you get from a traditional BMW suspension.

The 2011 BMW 5-Series is an all-new redesign. It is available as the six-cylinder 535i, or the V8-powered 550i, with an extensive array of options packages available for each. A hybrid model is expected, but may not arrive until the 2012 model year.

The 2011 528i features a new 240-hp 3.0-liter, inline-six engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic.

The 535i features a new 300-hp 3.0-liter, turbo, inline-six engine, with the choice of an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

The 5-Series Gran Turismo has a sloping fastback roofline and operates a dual-mode hatchback. You can open just the lower part (similar to a sedan's trunk lid) or you can lift the whole hatch upward. Fold down the split rear seats and there's 60 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, less than most compact crossovers but four times the trunk space of a 5 Series sedan. A choice between twin-turbo V8 and turbocharged inline-6 ensures plenty of performance, while optional all-wheel drive (xDrive) offers steady footing in inclement weather.

Debuting on the new 5-series, an optional Park Assistant system will steer the car into a parallel parking space.

Expert Reviews: 2011 BMW 535i
Pros: Pros:
  • Aluminum body panels for weight savings
  • Improved handling through suspension changes
  • Bumper mounted cameras
  • Fuel efficient for a 2 ton car
Cons:
  • Blandness has set into the 5 series styling
  • Manual transmission drivability not top notch
  • Pricey in comparison to competition
  • Seat coolers are missing
Ruling: The 2011 5-Series is a fantastic mid-sized car that you can enjoy as well as sharing that joy with family or friends. It hauls around up to four other passengers in comfort and has go fast capabilities while giving the option of sedate and comfortable. BMW has updated their 5-series but took a safe design approach to reel in the older Gen-X and young boomers. Unfortunately, the price has gotten out of reach for a lot of people during a slow economic recovery.

2011 BMW Sport M Coupe, M3, M5

BMW 1 Series M Coupe

1 Series M Coupe
MSRP: $ 46135.00

Description:
BMW 1 Series M Coupe, with an upgraded turbo version of the inline six, promises an incredible experience.
  • 3.0-liter, in-line 6 cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo technology
  • 335 horsepower
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • 26 mpg hwy

CarReview's opinion of the 2011 BMW 1 Series M

Likes:
  • M heritage
  • Powerful and smooth revving 3.0 liter Twinpower Turbo inline 6
  • Unmistakable styling with an aggressive edge
Dislikes:
  • Rubbery shifter diminishes that precise feel of the car
  • Minor exhaust drone
  • Some minor body aesthetic details
Verdict: The competition is tight and it often comes down to test driving these more than once, side by side. These market leaders are all making such good quality cars, it makes the final decision that much more difficult. And even consider that you can get equal or better performance out of less expensive Japanese counter parts these days, although those typically require a little massaging of the chassis and motor to truly compare. But nevertheless, they should be considered when looking for a performance sedan.
But as I also mentioned, BMW M Sport is an icon. The heritage is unmistakable. I believe in their design and technology principles and I have faith in the brand’s history. I am an enthusiast who can honestly say that I love cars and the emotional experience of driving, whether that is a purely utilitarian SUV to a bahn storming European hot sedan. I love it. If you’re an enthusiast, a driver, you will love it too.

BMW M3

M3
MSRP: $ 55900.00

Description:
Pros:
  • Stupendous, high-revving V8 engine
  • Audacious handling
  • Always the benchmark by which other sports cars are compared
  • Outstanding dual-clutch and manual transmissions
  • Best value in its class
Cons:
  • Very thirsty V8
  • Feels heavy
Ruling: The BMW M3 is an outstanding performer at home on the open road or at the race track. With impressive road handling dynamics, a powerful 414 hp V8 engine, and a driver experience that few cars can equal, the M3 is a favorite that is coveted by enthusiasts everywhere.

The 2011 BMW M3 comes equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 414-horsepower at 8,300 rpm and 295 pound-feet of torque at 3,900 rpm. Though a six-speed manual transmission is standard, an M Double-clutch Transmission with Drivelogic is optional. BMW reports that the 2010 M3 has a top speed of 155 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds with the coupe, 4.8 seconds with the sedan, and 5.1 seconds with the convertible.

EPA estimates that the BMW M3 nets a city/highway fuel economy of 14/20 mpg.

Assisting performance for the rear-wheel drive BMW M3 is vehicle-speed-sensitive variable-assist power steering that BMW calls M Servotronic. The M3 also features a sport-tuned M suspension system. Electronic damping control, is available as an option for the BMW M3. Additionally, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) helps the M3 maintain road composure, while an Anti-look Brake System (ABS) and Dynamic Brake Control bring it to a safe and secure halt.

The 2011 BMW M3 is available in three body styles: coupe, sedan and convertible hardtop.

CarReview's opinion of the 2011 BMW M3

Likes:
  • Smooth lines, appeals to the female eye
  • Bavarian Corvette in four seat clothing
  • Anti-bling, subtle cues says this one means business
Dislikes:
  • Thirsty
  • Uninspired interior
  • Bit of a Heavyweight
Verdict: The latest M3 coupe is probably the best of the series, save the very first E30 introduced in 1988. With the latest transmission and engine combination, it would be difficult to find such a stylish coupe or sedan that can carry four adults around for street driving and easily transition into a track master on the weekend.
A point all of the female test drivers made: nice car, but they would never be able to use half the car’s capability, so an E92 328i or 335is would suit them just fine. If you have a short commute and plan on hitting the track on the weekend, this might be the dual-purpose car for you. Outside of a few interior shortcomings, this M3 is about the best all-around package out there, so long as you can afford the $68k (as equipped) ticket for entry.

BMW M5

M5

Description:
The new generation 2012 BMW M5 brings a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 engine with an M TwinPower Turbo package that delivers an impressive 560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 lb-ft from 1,500 rpm.

The model will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and, when the speed limiter is removed, is capable of hitting an impressive top speed of 190 mph.

The engine will be mated to a seven-speed double-clutch transmission that sends the power to the rear wheels. Both in automated mode (D) and manual (S), it delivers exceptionally fast and clean gear changes. The transmission offers a sequential shift pattern for the manual gearshift mode.

The 2012 M5 will deliver an estimated fuel economy of 28.5 mpg.

2011 BMW Crossover and ActiveHybrid 7 series

BMW X3

 X3
MSRP: $ 36750.00

Description:
Pros:
  • 8-speed transmission
  • Nimble handling and good ride quality
  • Standard all-wheel drive
  • Good looking redesign over the previous generation
Cons:
  • Cargo area small compared to competition
  • Expensive options
Ruling: The BMW X3 is now as good looking at its bigger brother , the X5, and performs like a sports sedan. The 2011 X3 also offers a comfortable interior that is easy on the eyes.

Redesigned for 2011, the BMW X3 is now bigger, has outstanding performance on the road, and has more standard interior features that go along with its attractive and comfortable cabin.

Available in two trims: the xDrive28i, which has a normally aspirated inline six-cylinder engine, and the xDrive35i, which has a turbocharged six-cylinder. All-wheel drive is standard on both trims. The 2011 model is bigger than the outgoing model, and has a new suspension and transmission, more passenger room and more cargo space. The X3 can seat five people.

  • 8-speed automatic is too shift-happy
  • Lacks personality
Ruling: The BMW X3 is a good balance between prestige, performance, luxury and safety. If you're also into driving fast, go for the xDrive35i. Just be prepared to tell everyone that it's the more expensive and faster X3, because most people won't be able to tell the difference.

Summary:
2011 x5d, ordered it with the nav pkg, sports pkg with the 20",premium pkg. coming from 2008 328xi the ride quality is the same if not better in the x5, only on just my 2nd tank of diesel and I'm already getting better fuel ecomomy than the 328xi. currently it's giving me 13.0L/100km,this is all city driving, haven't gone on the hwy yet. Interior feels very well put together, materials used doesn't feel or look cheap. When driving the vehicle it feels very solid and well planted on the road, currently I have snow tires on(not run flats) but it doesn't feel any different than when I had the 20" run flats on, some people have compliants about the rough ride of the run flats, I personally don't feel the difference, it just might be how the suspension is set up. Back up camera works great, as for the side view and bird's eye view cameras, I still haven't gotten used to yet, personally I can do without the extra 4 cameras but it's included in the pkg so I had no choice. still have a 2008 mdx, you can't compare the 2 vehicles, they are completely different cars. The drive, fit and finish of the x5 is far superior, that would also explain the big gap in the price of both vehicles. mdx is a pig on gas, with 30,000km it's getting 15L/100km. I have no complaints about the i-drive, maybe because the 2011 is equipt with the latest generation i-drive it's pretty user friendly. All in all I'm completely satified with my purchase.

Fuel economy is estimated at 18 mpg city and 28 mpg on the highway.

CarReview's opinion of the 2012 Audi A7

Pros:
  • Smooth, powerful supercharged V6
  • Remarkable 8-speed automatic transmission
  • Well-balanced suspension provides comfort and performance
  • Excellent fuel efficiency, especially on the highway
  • Gorgeous, distinctive exterior design
  • Tons of available technology
Cons:
  • Annoying dashboard squeak
  • Rear legroom a bit cramped
  • Need to order the Sport Package for paddle shifters and sport suspension
Verdict: Most likely the A7 will compete against other mid-size luxury sedans, against which it should compare very well. With a base price of just over $60k the A7 isn't exactly cheap, and for that amount of money you can get a well appointed E class or Jaguar XF, each of which comes with a more powerful V8 engine. Still, the A7 offers more practicality, better fuel efficiency, cutting edge technology, and exquisite exterior design. In a crowded field of excellent but rather similar luxury sedans, that makes the A7 uniquely brilliant.
